Every Sunday I am at my parents' place with about twenty other people and this has been true my entire life. Most Saturdays there is something as well: a christening, a birthday, somebody's engagement. If you are looking for a weekend person then I am the wrong man entirely.
Forty seven, the west, switch, fifteen years in. Weeknights are what I have and I have a lot of them, because my working day finishes at a sensible hour and my flat is empty from six.
I am aware this is the reverse of most people's availability and that it has cost me. Two dynamics ended because the other person wanted a Saturday and I could not produce one without a conversation with my mother that I was not prepared to have.
What I want is one partner, long term, both directions, on a Tuesday or a Wednesday or a Thursday. Somebody in the west or the inner west, because a weeknight and a long drive do not combine well for anybody.
Nobody in my family knows any of this and nobody is going to. That is settled and it is not shame, it is a sign that I have met my family. Not looking for anybody who wants to be part of my weekend. Not looking for somebody who will treat the family thing as something I ought to have grown out of by forty seven.
