Our free time is produced by two separate rosters that have never been introduced to each other. She is on four days on and four days off. I do rotating shifts that change every three weeks. Some months we get eleven evenings together. In April we got four.
Thirty and thirty two, the east end, together five years, both of us in this since before we met.
What we are looking for is one person, occasional or regular, whose availability is also strange. Shift workers, people who work from home, people with unusual weeks. Anybody whose life runs on an ordinary Monday to Friday is going to find us maddening, and we have already made three people miserable by not saying this clearly enough at the start.
We are both switches, which we know complicates it further. In practice, with a third person, we are usually both on the same side of it, and that is agreed beforehand rather than discovered halfway through.
We can host most of the time. Our place is small and the neighbours are close, but the building is full of people on nights and nobody notices anything. Not looking for anybody who needs a fixed weekly slot, because no such thing exists here. Not looking for somebody who wants to be messaged all day, because one of us is usually asleep. Not looking to plan more than about two weeks ahead, which we simply cannot do.
