Two couples, dinner, nothing else on the table, and we mean it. We have now had this conversation forty times and we are starting to suspect the words are not the problem.
Thirty nine and forty one, North York, together twelve years. We are not hunting for anybody. We are not being coy about hunting for somebody. We have a private arrangement between the two of us that we are entirely happy with and that has no vacancy in it of any kind.
What is missing is that we know nobody. Not one other couple who could hear a sentence about our actual life without the whole thing being explained from the beginning first. That is the entire content of this post.
Every time we have said this, somebody has replied that they respect it, and then three messages later has asked whether we would ever consider it. We would not. Not eventually, not with the right people, not once we were comfortable. It is not shyness and there is nothing to unlock.
So: a couple, roughly our age or older, who want people to eat with and complain to. We are good hosts, we are both reasonably funny, and we are in North York where there is parking, which is the only genuinely attractive thing we can offer anybody. Not looking for a third and not looking to be one. Not looking for anybody who treats that as an opening position. Not looking for anything at a weekend, because our weekends belong to family.
